The purchase of a  puppy involves many considerations and is not a decision to be taken lightheartedly. The AKC guide and several books on dog breeds provide descriptions of the  breed's characteristics, such as size, temperament, personality, and behavior. Assuming that you have decided which breed you want to own (or to own you), the next question prospective purchasers ask is, "How do I find a reputable breeder?"

The Just-A-Wyn Story

My passion for dogs started as I was raised with my grandma's Boxer "Mike".  Mike was the babysitter for seven robust children--My brothers and Sisters. My family, husband, Apicnthony (Tony) of 29 years and my two children Justin, 24 years old, and my daughter, whom everyone knows, Ashley, 19 years old, all share my love story for our dogs.  When Ashley and I are on the show circuit, Tony and Justin are at the home front.
When I purchased my first Boxer, we looked high and low but couldn't find one anywhere.  Finally we purchased a 12 week old from Texas.  We named her Magnificent Maxie.  We had met a neighbor across the street who raised Boxers and I would go over and ask to buy one of her dogs.  Her comment to me was, "These are show dogs!"  Being a new proud owner, I took my new puppy across the street. Paul and Wanda Palco, "Wan-A-Pal Boxers", who ended up being my mentors, were quite surprised by what Max looked like and delightfully said, "Your puppy is a show dog !!"
That was the turning point for me as I now had the urge to breed and show dogs.  Several years went by and we went to many shows and watched the main show ring.  Now it was time for me to purchase a new show dog.  I went to OBC Puppy Match and met Tom and Arlene Perret-Pinebrook Boxers.  They had a 9 week old flashy fawn bitch, which I named Pinebrook's Gabrelle Fire.  Gabby was my first American and Canadian champion.  The bug was with me and I wanted to expand to a new breed, so I purchased a Belgian Tervuren.  I purchased her from a prominent kennel in West Virginia, Shumakerhills.  Just-A-Wyn-E the Pooh.  Pooh Wyn-E has given me 14 champions and is now retired. Now to my third breed, Dalmatians !
My best friend was in Hospice and had 17 show dogs and was down to her last three with one being a Dalmatian.  With respect for her I took Rhoda (Am. Can Ch Cassiopeia's Midnight Madness).  Rhoda finished quickly and has produced 13 champions.  I would like to thank my mentors and the Palco's, the Perret's and Gloria Barlow.  We now live on 5 acres and have a kennel.......................THE STORY SILL CONTINUES
